Amir Shaikh Slams Chandrashekhar Bawankule over Remarks on Ramesh Chennithala and Muslim Representation

Pune, October 31, 2024 – NSUI Maharashtra President Amir Shaikh has issued a strong response to the remarks made by Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule regarding AICC Maharashtra Incharge Ramesh Chennithala and Congress's respect for Muslim representation in the state.

Amir Shaikh criticized Bawankule’s statement, saying, “The months of experience you have gained as BJP Maharashtra President cannot compare to the decades of experience Ramesh Ji has in Indian politics. Ramesh Chennithala doesn’t need guidance from leaders like Devendra Fadnavis to address Maharashtra’s issues. Bawankule should think twice before making unwarranted remarks about a leader of his stature.”

Shaikh further called out the BJP’s hypocrisy on the issue of Muslim rights. “BJP leaders have no authority to speak about Muslim rights when their party has been openly involved in crimes and discrimination against the Muslim community. If Bawankule genuinely believes in representation, let him first disclose how many tickets the BJP has allocated to Muslim candidates in Maharashtra.”

NSUI Maharashtra reiterates Congress’s commitment to secularism and fair representation for all communities. Amir Shaikh emphasized that the BJP’s attempt to question Congress’s respect for minorities is both hypocritical and politically driven.

“The Congress Party has always stood for the rights and dignity of every citizen. We won’t allow the BJP to mislead the public with false narratives or hide their own record of exclusion and injustice,” added Shaikh.
