"In Modi's India, business as usual is no longer an option," states Akash Ambani, who is promoting the use of AI to position India as a global manufacturing hub.
New Delhi, October 15: At the International Telecommunication Union - World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (ITU WTSA), Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, emphasized the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform India into a global manufacturing and service hub.
He stated, "With Artificial Intelligence, India can completely revolutionize manufacturing centers, including SMEs, positioning the country as a new-age factory and service center for the world. AI is essential for achieving our vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Therefore, India must urgently adopt AI under your leadership, guided by a comprehensive strategy focused on maximum Atma Nirbhar efforts."
During his address, Ambani expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is under your guidance that the India Mobile Congress has gained prominence and achieved a global reputation, becoming a vital platform for digital innovation and collaboration," he remarked.
Ambani highlighted the swift digital transformation occurring in India, saying, "In Modi's India, there's no more business as usual. Instead, there is a remarkable synergy between government and industry to provide world-class services that meet the needs and expectations of 1.45 billion Indians. As a representative of young India, I thank you for your deep connection with the youth and for inspiring us to pursue ambitious goals. As we say in Hindi, 'Modi hai toh mumkin hai.'"
He further praised India's telecommunications achievements, stating, "The world is amazed by a nation that, just eight years ago, was crawling at 2G speeds and is now racing down the 5G highway." He assured the Prime Minister that India would excel in 6G, noting, "From being ranked 155th in mobile broadband adoption, we have become the largest data market in the world."
Ambani also highlighted India's inclusive approach to digital transformation, saying, "Modiji has ensured that innovation promotes greater inclusion. He has democratized digital technology, using it as a tool to extend benefits to the last mile, leaving no one behind. India's digital revolution has reached even the most remote areas of our nation." He pointed out that the PM's Jan-Dhan Yojana has helped incorporate 530 million 'unbanked' Indians into the financial system.
Interestingly, Ambani made two key recommendations to the Prime Minister during his speech. First, he urged immediate action to adopt AI, which he considers "the most revolutionary tool of transformation created by the human mind." Second, he called for the acceleration of updates to the 2020 draft of the data center policy to ensure Indian data remains within the country.
He noted, "Indian mobile companies, along with the growing ecosystem, are well-positioned to provide solutions to the rest of the world, including developed nations."
Ambani also stressed the importance of quickly developing talent to establish India as a global AI leader. "Some existing jobs will evolve, and many more exciting employment opportunities will emerge," he said during the ITU-WTSA.
He concluded, "Entrepreneurship will flourish, similar to what happened during the rise of computers and the Internet. Ultimately, we promise that India will lead the way in mobile innovation, fully harnessing the power of AI to create a connected, intelligent future that will be transformative for every Indian."
