Jaishankar has a meeting with Hungarian MP Balazs Orban
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Hungarian MP Balazs Orban in New Delhi on August 29, 2024.
Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Orban's interest in the historical ties between India and Hungary. On X, he wrote, "Glad to meet Hungarian MP @BalazsOrban_HU today in Delhi. Had a good conversation about our world perspectives and appreciate his interest in our historical connection."
Earlier this year, a parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, RS Harivansh, visited Hungary from March 7-8. This visit, on the invitation of Istvan Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, included Rajya Sabha members Ashok Bajpai and Lt Gen (Retd) DP Vats, along with Rajya Sabha Secretary-General PC Mody. The delegation engaged in meetings with Jakab, interacted with the Hungarian-Indian Friendship Group chaired by Peter Cseresnyes, and undertook a comprehensive parliamentary tour to learn about Hungarian parliamentary traditions.
Harivansh highlighted the significance of parliamentary cooperation in enhancing the vibrant bilateral relations between India and Hungary. The diplomatic relationship between the two countries is warm and multifaceted, celebrating its 75th anniversary of the agreement in 2023. Regular parliamentary exchanges are maintained, with Zsolt Nemeth, President of the Hungarian Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs, visiting India in January 2024.
